This week marked a huge milestone for Flickr, which turned 10-years-old yesterday. Flickr is an online photo community that's used by more than 92 million people from 63 countries. It revolutionized the way people upload and share their high quality photos. After 10 years of growing and perfecting their service, Flickr has crossed over from being a simple online service to a place where people meet, collaborate, discover and create.

“It’s exciting for me to celebrate Flickr’s birthday!" said Stewart Butterfield, Co-Founder of Flickr, on the company's blog. "When we dreamed this photo site 10 years ago, we couldn’t have imagined the impact it would have on digital photo sharing and the way it would connect people worldwide. I am proud of Flickr and excited for what’s ahead.”

Flickr was the first to create a significant online community that allows users to store, organize, tag and share digital photos.

In celebration of their 10 year anniversary, Flickr will be holding a contest in which Flickr users can share their favorite 10 photos of the last 10 years in the #Flickr10 group. The group will be open for the next two weeks and the winner will be published on Flickr’s Facebook, Twitter, and FlickrBlog.
