For ‘90s kids everywhere, this will likely be the best news you hear all month. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has cast Dylan Minnette to star in an adaptation of R.L. Stine’s long-running YA horror book series, Goosebumps. In addition, The Wrap is reporting that both Odeya Rush and Jack Black have also signed on to the project. Black has been rumored to be attached to the film for months, but only now has it been confirmed. Here is Deadline’s description of the film’s plot:

None

The Goosebumps series was the talk of playgrounds nationwide during the early and mid ‘90s. The stories shared the same spirit of many tales O. Henry and Rod Serling told decades earlier, but aimed exclusively at kids.

The movie seems like it’s taking plenty of liberties with the ideas Stine put out there, but as long as it’s true to the books’ spirit, this has the potential to scratch the nostalgia itch for every kid who grew up during the ‘90s.
