Fans of The Boondocks were surely rejoicing when official news hit that the show would return after four years of absence. However, this season comes with a caveat—Aaron McGruder, the creator of the comic strip and patriarch behind the show itself wasn't involved in the fourth season. The Los Angeles Times reports that a press release from Sony Pictures Television, the producers of the animated series, said the upcoming season "was produced without the involvement of Aaron McGruder, when a mutually agreeable production schedule could not be determined."

Perhaps, McGruder was busy getting his live-action series Black Jesus ready for production.

The show must go on, however. In the aforementioned press release details about a few of the season's plot points and a gaggle of guest stars were revealed:

None

Oh, yeah, and this will be the last season too.

The Boondocks premiers on April 21 on Adult Swim.
