There was a time when the big-budget market was absolutely saturated with WWII first-person shooters, just as the modern military shooter has taken over now. This makes games like Enemy Front an anomaly. For those that remember Medal of Honor and its ilk, the game looks exactly like a modern (old-schoolish?) re-interpretation of those games, with everything from the burned out cities where snipers played to infiltration of secret nazi underground bases.
Is this a good thing? It's hard to tell from the trailer given the well-worn tread shown, but the fact that it's running on CryEngine and even that it exists at all is something of a point of interest in this era. To be fair, it's hard to see the inner-workings of the game's open-ended (but not open world?) design and the dynamically unscripted ways that enemies react, so it's tough to make a call one way or the other. Decide for yourself whether or not this WWII shooter is a weird anachronox or a cool throwback by watching the trailer above for yourself.
