The original Shin Megami Tensei is coming to iOS devices in March, publisher Atlus has announced. The first in a two decade-plus JRPG series (that includes everyone's favorite Atlus franchise Persona as well as several other permutations) Shin Megami Tensei started out in 1992 as a relatively quaint dungeon crawler, introducing now-permanent design elements like interacting, talking and collecting demons to use in battle against other demons.
In many ways SMT hasn't changed a lot since the first game, apart from more modern trappings, and if you're familiar with any the first two Persona titles you already have a pretty good idea of what to expect. For series fans, SMT should be an interesting (albeit extremely old-school) look at the origin of this ethereal and mature franchise.
Also it'll hopefully have one of Atlus' great translations.
