Borderlands developer Gearbox Software's boss Randy Pitchford may have been technically telling the truth when he said that there was no Borderlands sequel in development as it's been revealed by GamePointNow that a “pre-sequel” is actually what's being produced. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! Is the new – rumored – game under development for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC which is said to take place in the five years between Borderlands and Borderlands 2. It's also set on the moon (Elpis) above Pandora and the Hyperion's H-shaped space station that orbits, and sometimes bombards, the planet.

The game will feature Handsome Jack in the days before becoming a crazed megalomaniac when he was the humble programmer, John, hunting a powerful alien artifact, according to GamePointsNow. Players will be able to select one of Jack/John's four lieutenants; Athena the Gladiator, Wilhelm the Enforcer, Nisha the Lawbringer and Fragtrap a militarized version of series prankster Claptrap.
