"Persona 4" Heading To PSN Next Week

None

Atlus is pushing Persona hard this year, with several new games hitting various platforms over the course of 2014 leading up to the release of Persona 5 in 2015. But if you haven't yet played Persona 4, you'll soon be getting another chance – the original PS2 edition is coming to PSN next week as a PlayStation Classic.

Much like all games in the various editions of the long-running Shin Megami Tensei series, Persona is about catching, breeding and fusing demon familiars to fight alongside narrative protagonists, while Persona in particular has dealt with issues teens face growing up (sexual and identity politics, among several others) in a smart, realistic fashion – if you count paring self-actualization struggles with demonic forces realistic.

In all seriousness, though, Persona 4 is arguably one of the best JRPGs of the past decade, chock full of sharp writing and addictively old-school gameplay. If you haven't played this or the Vita port The Golden and are itching for a long, in-depth JRPG, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

The PS2 classic Persona 4 hits PS3 via PSN May 8 for $10.
