"Beverly Hills Cop 4" Is Officially a Go

Classic 1980s movie "Beverly Hills Cop" is being given a fourth installment in 2016.

Any time you can get the dream team from Tower Heist back together, you have to do it.

We can only assume that is what Paramount was thinking, as they have officially given the green light to franchise-reboot Beverly Hills Cop 4. The film reunites Tower Heist star Eddie Murphy with the film’s director, Brett Ratner, and already has a release date of March 25, 2016.

The plot of the film will reportedly bring Axel Foley (Murphy) back to his native Detroit, and it would seem likely that it will somehow revolve around the struggling economy of that area. No word yet on whether Judge Reinhold will be returning as well, although we tend to doubt he’s that busy these days.

The film will hopefully be an improvement on the largely-panned third installment, which was released in 1994 and currently owns a score of 10 on Rotten Tomatoes. The film actually nearly became a TV series, until CBS decided last year not to pick up the show despite the pilot being very well received.
