Kiddie arcade Chuck E. Cheese's is expanding an early test with virtual reality. The chain is launching a pilot program to add the Oculus Rift VR headset – recently acquired by Facebook – into three of its markets.
Dallas, Orlando and San Diego will all get virtual reality “ticket blasters” the tubes where lucky kids get to stand in and grab at flying tickets. 30 restaurants will partake in the test however Chuck E. Cheese's seems to have much bigger plans for the Oculus Rift than just blasting kids. “Oculus Rift technology is the next frontier in the gaming industry,” says company president Roger Cardinal.
So if you don't have a developer kit and you live in one these areas, this might just be the best – and creepiest – way to get some hands-on.
