"Community" May Be Getting Cancelled

What happened on Twitter early this morning to suggest "Community" is being cancelled?

With Dan Harmon back in the fold, NBC cult hit Community seemed to rediscover its voice last season, buoying hopes that it would continue for at least one more go-round with the quirky students of Greendale Community College.

Early this morning, however, writer and executive producer Chris McKenna replied to a tweet and may have indicated that the show is on its way out. Here’s the exchange:

@nbc @sony #sixseasonsandamovie for Community or we may have to send Pierce's cylinders to your headquarters! @danharmon @cpmckenna
@AltNationNet @nbc @Sony @danharmon Community is dead. Pick a new show to make unthreatening threats about.
@AltNationNet @GreendaleYear4 @nbc @Sony @danharmon Rumors of its death may be exaggerated. But prepare yourself for non-exaggeration.

NBC has green-lit a number of new shows already, and sitcoms Parks and Recreation, About a Boy, and Growing up Fisher are all returning as well, so the math would suggest that there isn’t much room left for Community. Nothing official has come from NBC, so it’s premature to despair, but these early signs have to be troubling at best.

For the show’s fiercely loyal fans, this is a pretty concerning way to kick off the day.
