Google is very much aware that the public perception of Glass lies somewhere between "douchey" and "a complete joke" and it wants desperately to win people over. Accordingly, it has just hired veteran fashion exec Ivy Ross, who has worked on design and marketing at Calvin Klein, Gap, and Coach, among others, to develop a strategy that will position Glass as cool, fashionable, and ultimately wearable.

"With your help, I look forward to answering the seemingly simple, but truly audacious questions Glass poses: Can technology be something that frees us up and keeps us in the moment, rather than taking us out of it? Can it help us look up and out at the world around us, and the people who share it with us?," she wrote in an open letter addressed to Glass Explorers.

Ross will begin her job as head of Google Glass on Monday, the company announced. Good luck.
