The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hasn’t even been in theaters a week yet, but director Marc Webb is already thinking about who the Wall Crawler will trade fisticuffs with the next time the character hits the big screen in 2016’s The Amazing Spider-Man 3. When asked who he wants to see as the villain in the next film during an interview with ComicBook.Com, Webb only had one concrete response: Kraven.

Webb expanded on that by adding, “I like the idea of Kraven. The Vulture. Ock. I always thought the idea of Mysterio was interesting. Maybe Scorpion. But really, Kraven I think is kind of interesting.”

This is obviously all in the early stages, but it’s plain to see that Webb has had Kraven on the mind. This might also be a smart choice for the film because unlike Electro and the Green Goblin, Kraven wouldn’t require unrealistic CGI and video game fight scenes. He’s a hunter and a brawler, plain and simple.

In the comics, Kraven is a Russian immigrant who escaped persecution following the February Revolution. He later becomes a maniacal big game hunter who tries to prove his worth by capturing the most elusive prey of all: Spider-Man.

Kraven was also a founding member of the Sinister Six, and would fit into Sony’s plans for bringing that group into its own spin-off film. But most importantly of all, Karven is one of Spider-Man’s most complex and interesting foes, and he has yet to be showcased in a movie.
