Microsoft announced today that it will sell a version of the Xbox One without the Kinect motion and voice sensor starting at $399, despite previous statments that the system would not world without it. In the same blog post as the revealed on the new Kinect-less verions there is a video (above) explaining why Microsoft really wants you to continue to buy the Kinect version. You know, because you can talk to it.
Also announced today is that starting in June the company will roll-out a new set of benefits for Xbox Live Gold members on the Xbox One and anyone who owns an Xbox 360 or Xbox One who is not a paid subscriber will also have access to popular games and apps. Apps like Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go and many others will no longer require user to be Xbox Live Gold subscribers. Xbox One users who have a gold subscription will receive Max: The Curse of Brotherhood” and “Halo: Spartan Assault” for free in June and Xbox 360 users will recieve an extra free game. Three in total.
