Yelp Is Adding a Video Feature to its Reviews

The business recommendation service will begin letting users add videos to their reviews.

As if Yelp users weren't insufferable enough, the business recommendation service will soon begin letting reviewers add videos to their posts. The idea is that videos can offer a more accurate description of a bar or coffee shop than photos can.

"It will be a reward for businesses that go to great lengths to achieve a certain ambiance, whether by having a certain lighting or the music at just the right level," Yelp's mobile product manager, Madhu Prabaker, told Business Insider.

Videos will vary in length from three to 12 seconds and we will be subject to the same filter guidelines that keep Yelp free of inappropriate photos. The feature will be rolled out to 'Elite Users' beginning in June and will be available to the rest of us shortly afterwards.
