Loaded Handgun Discovered in Toy Aisle at South Carolina Target

Authorities are trying to figure out who put it there.

Authorities say a loaded 9mm handgun was discovered in the midst of children's toys at a South Carolina Target location. 

The Associated Press reports that a worker at the Myrtle Beach, S.C. store was investigating what he believed to be a theft when he suddenly noticed the black handgun resting atop a "superhero toy box." Though he told police that he was noticed a suspicious man lurking in the area, they can't confirm that he was responsible for leaving the gun there. 

Furthermore, the weapon—which police say wasn't reported stolen—was holding eight bullets. Police plan to review surveillance footage to identify whoever left the gun in the store. In the meantime, Target offered  a statement on the incident to WMBF:
