No matter what your thoughts are on 2012’s Avengers, it’s hard to deny that the Hulk absolutely stole the show. And not only was his smashing spree a sight to behold, Mark Ruffalo added some much needed gravitas to his human counterpart, Dr. Bruce Banner. Still, despite being a highlight, the Hulk’s arc felt a little shallow compared to the other characters. Thankfully it looks like Joss Whedon is going to rectify that in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

During an interview with Total Film, Ruffalo said, "[My role's] even bigger than last time, and it's more complex and it has more layers and a bit more arc.” He continued, “I'm really tripping on the technology of this motion-capture stuff… now I just completely embrace it and see it as this other exciting place we can go as performers."

With Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor having their own solo films to shine in, it makes sense that the Hulk will get more of the spotlight in the next Avengers movie. Hopefully his star will only continue to rise, leading to a revival of the solo Hulk franchise. It's about time that the Green Goliath got the definitive on-screen treatment.
