It's taken long enough, but come this fall, airports in New York and New Jersey will give travelers free Wi-Fi. For 30 minutes at a time.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey agreed to a deal with Boingo Wireless, Inc. yesterday that will give commuters a half-hour of free Internet access. When the time's up, they have the option of paying either $7.95 for a day of unlimited use, or $9.95 for a month of free Wi-Fi.
This long-overdue modernization of local airports should make idle airport time more entertaining and productive—for a short period of time.
