The 2014 World Cup is over after the Germans reigned supreme over Lionel Messi and the Argentinian squad yesterday in a 1-0 victory. However, the memories we have for the tournament will last a lifetime: Mario Götze's unforgettable winner versus Argentina, the crushing defeat the Brazilians suffered at Germany's hands, and Tim Howard's 16 saves against Germany will all remain as indelible moments in World Cup history.

To immortalize these moments, a Brazilian digital artist named Matheus Toscano has rendered them in an 8-bit style, giving these present moments a dose of added nostalgia. We've collected a few of his images above, but you can see his entire, extensive gallery over at his website, 8bit Football. You'll find graphics of World Cup teams both past and present, as well as a collection of instantly classic stills from this year's tournament.
