Jon Stewart's highly anticipated directing debut was screened at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado last night and he was apparently given a "hero's welcome."  Journalist Mark Danner moderated a Q&A session with Stewart and Rosewater star Gael Garcia Bernal.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Rosewater probably won't get Stewart any big awards, but gives him an A for effort. "[I]t is, like virtually every episode of The Daily Show that has made Stewart one of the most trusted men in America, an attempt to get people to eat their vegetables (to learn and care more about the world around them) by hiding them in their ice cream (laughs). And, for his efforts, Stewart deserves to be commended."

Hey, at the very least, Rosewater gave us three months of John Oliver.
