Nicolas Cage has had to stare down all manner of nemeses in his on-screen career: terrorists both foreign and domestic, satanic cult leaders, and even Satan himself. But now he’s taking on his biggest challenge ever: the end of days.

In the first full trailer for Left Behind, we see Cage in full-on Cage mode as airline pilot Rayford Steele (sharpest name ever?). When The Rapture comes and takes much of the world’s population up to heaven, Cage must safely land his plane and get back to his daughter (Cassi Thomson), all while trying to figure out why God decided to leave on earth.

At some point, we're assuming he saves mankind and redeems himself.

The film is actually the adaptation of a 16 book series, so if this movie is successful there is a good chance we’ll get to see sequels in which Cage battles with the Antichrist, and if we’re lucky, maybe goes another couple rounds with Satan.
