"Dracula: Untold" Beats "Gone Girl" at the Box Office

But Affleck may still pull through for the overall weekend.

Dracula: Untold debuted this weekend and beat Ben Affleck's record-breaking Gone Girl. That happened last weekend with Annabelle, too, though, and Gone Girl ended up number one for the whole weekend. Dracula: Untold took in $8.9 million for Thursday and Friday while Gone Girl took in $8.15 million in its second weekend. Luke Evans stars in the vampire pic, which has been getting mixed reviews.

Horror flick Annabelle fell to number three. Steve Carrell's Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was number four, followed by Robert Downey Jr. in The Judge; both had modest but not terrible openings. As we mentioned last week, box office numbers are up overall this year.
