Ah, the summer fling. Many have been there, when the warm weather and ample free time allows for the seeds of romance to be planted, blossom, and die all in a span of three months. These romances often burn brightly and briefly, and when they’re gone they leave nothing but a few flickering memories. And also, Snapchats.
This is what we learned about former Houston high school biology teacher Ashley Zehnder, who parlayed her gig as an assistant cheerleading coach into a full on summer romance with a 17-year-old male student/cheerleading team member. All seemed to be going well until the student took a screenshot of a nude Snapchat sent by Zehnder, who took offense when he began showing it to all his buddies.
So what did she do? She told the school, of course. Because when you’re trying to hide your romance, it makes total sense to tell the administration that a student has a nude photo of you. Maybe she assumed they wouldn't ask a single follow-up question?
With nothing to lose, the student fessed up immediately and effectively ended Zehdner’s career at the tender age of 24. And credit must be given to this student, too, for the manner of his pickup; he pulled the old “whoops-I-can’t-find-my-phone-can-I-borrow-yours-to-call-it-oh-now-I’ll-save-your-number-and-start-texting-you” trick, and it actually worked.
