Picture this: a man-child with once-in-a-generation basketball talent is thrust into the national spotlight while most guys his age are worrying about what classes to take during the upcoming semester. It’s a story that has gripped sports fans across America for generations, and now it has been brought to television via the six-part comedy series Survivor’s Remorse, which premieres October 4 on Starz. In the center of the series, our rising superstar Cam Calloway is played by actor Jessie T. Usher. The series follows Cam’s exploits as a freshly minted millionaire adjusting to a new life in Atlanta, with his cousin and confidante, Reggie, played by RonReaco Lee, at his side.
Much like his character Cam, Jessie T. Usher knows what it’s like to fill big shoes. His first professional credit as an actor came at the age of 13, and he has been working regularly ever since — so he knows what it is to take on a challenge at a young age. He recently appeared as a football player in the film When The Game Stands Tall, but is perhaps best known as a cast member of the show Level Up on Cartoon Network, in which virtual reality bleeds into reality-reality. Sounds like the perfect preparation for living the life of a sports sensation.
Similar to Jessie, RonReaco Lee has acting credits stretching back to his tween years. Playing the role of the confidante and advisor to Cam should come easily to Lee — after twenty-five years in the entertainment industry, he has undoubtedly seen every variety of superstar support system.
