One of the most overlooked aspects of the workplace sitcom is the workplace itself. It might seem like an odd thing to say, as more often than not, the office, restaurant, or police department where characters work is just an excuse for plot, not an engine for it. And indeed, in many workplace comedies we don't actually see characters doing their jobs very often. After all, no one would watch a show where characters were simply attending to their personal responsibilities. Sitcom characters are usually too busy building sexual tension, playing pranks on each other, or musing on social mores to actually do any work.

Today, we pay pay tribute to often overlooked work that actually goes on in workplace sitcoms. It is time to reward those characters who are diligently filing their reports between b-plot hi-jinx and call out those characters who too busy throwing out potential catch phrases to actually take care of business. Here are our Professional Power Rankings For Sitcom Characters.
