Freaks and Geeks alum John Francis Daley has made quite a name for himself since those days—his character was recently killed off Bones, much to the chagrin of loyal fans. But that's because his other projects are taking off. Daley and writing partner Jonathan Goldstein have written movies like Horrible Bosses and are writing and directing the upcoming National Lampoon's Vacation reboot starring Ed Helms and Christina Applegate.
Daley is making a cameo in the film, and it looks like fellow Geeks Martin Starr and Samm Levine are, too. "I don't know if they've been confirmed yet in the cast, but it's looking really good. I just wanted a chance to get the three geeks back together, in the same project," Daley said.
He also said they're filming with original stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo next week, plus Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann. Daley told fans not to mourn his Bones character, though—his death is allowing Vacation to even happen.
"I was super pumped to do it [Vacation], but sad I had to leave the show that I had been on for seven years. I've been writing movies simultaneously while I was on the show and was able to manage both schedules, but directing is an all-encompassing job, and it didn't really fall in line with my summer hiatus from the show," he said.
