The tale of Mama June and the end of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo just keeps getting sadder. After the show was canceled in the wake of a story that indicated Mama June was dating convicted child molester Mark McDaniel, the Shannon family matriarch has revealed that the father of her daughters Jessica and Pumpkin is a convicted sex offender named Michael Anthony Ford.
Ford was busted on To Catch a Predator of all places, but June had always planned on keeping it hidden. “Why the hell would I open up that can of worms until today?” she said. “I lied to my family and told them [the girls’ father] was somebody else.”
June went on to say that “I have nothing to hide, I have nothing to lose. I just want, honestly, to tell my side of the story and let's move on.”
While it’s tough to really see the story from her perspective, the “move on” part sounds good. You really just have to feel for the kids, who will have to live with this messed up family dynamic even when the public moves on to something else.
