TV viewers still haven't seen a single episode of Tina Fey's new comedy, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but that hasn't stopped the show from getting another season. The show starring Ellie Kemper will move from NBC to Netflix, and as part of the deal Netflix has agreed to renew it for a second season.

Fey created the show about a woman (Kemper) who escapes from a doomsday cult and moves to New York City. NBC picked it up to run in the fall, but Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt wasn't unshunnable and never ended up in the lineup. Instead of wasting away in limbo the show will now premiere on Netflix in March 2015

For Netflix this was an opportunity to add to its growing lineup of original comedies. For NBC it's a bit of a head-scratcher, as the network is running out of great original comedies. Parks and Recreation is on its way out and will leave a hole in a department that's already lacking. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt might not have been NBC's next hit, but it still need to find a new heavy hitter.
