It was kind of strange for The Today Show to use Amy Adams to make a bold proclamation about their journalistic integrity, given that she has never done anything to give her a reputation as a difficult person.

However, that’s exactly what happened when Adams had her interview yanked last week when she reportedly either refused or resisted (depending on who you believe) discussing the Sony hack. Adams’ involvement in the subsequent leaks is tangential at best; her name was brought up in one email discussing the salaries of the cast of American Hustle.

“I was informed that they had decided to pull the interview,” Adams said about her Today experience. “I was confused and definitely frustrated. I still don’t understand.”

The Today producers sound like they were very committed to discussing Sony no matter what Adams said, though. “I expressed that I was uncomfortable. I said I would rather not add my voice to this conversation,” Adams said. “But, it was clear they were drawing a hard line, that this would be part of the conversation.”

Why it  mattered so much to discuss Sony during a four-minute segment doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, especially since Adams was there to promote a different movie (Big Eyes).
