If you're missing a PlayStation 4 under your Christmas tree tomorrow, you'll still be in luck if you have the right TV.

Starting next year, Sony will allow Samsung smart TVs in the United States and Canada to access the PlayStation Now service, which features a library of nearly 200 PlayStation 3 games that users will be able to stream (no downloads necessary). In order to hook up a TV, all you'll need is a Dualshock controller and the PlayStation Now app. There's no firm date for the release of the service on Samsung's televisions, but it should be available in the first half of 2015.

This is a pretty big deal regardless if you have a Samsung TV or not—this is the first time PlayStation's year-old Now service will be available on a non-Sony device. This opens the door for other TV display companies potentially getting the app. "Partnering with Samsung is a key step toward realizing this vision, as we can reach a broader audience of consumers who may not own a PlayStation console to show them why gaming with PlayStation is such a unique and amazing experience," Masayasu Ito, Executive VP of Sony Computer Entertainment, said in the company's announcement. PlayStation Now running on actual Samsung TVS will likely be shown for the first time at CES in Las Vegas next year.
