You'd be hard-pressed to make a bigger fool of yourself on "The Price Is Right" than this guy did.

Look, it’s hard to know what it’s like to be bidding on The Price Is Right unless you’ve actually lived it. It’s easy to shout from your couch, cursing as your bidding brilliance is ignored yet again by foolish contestants; it’s quite another thing to be on the receiving end of all that shouting, flustered by having to make a quick decision and the overwhelming fact that you’re on The Price Is Freakin’ Right.

But watching this clip, you see two comically dumb mistakes. The first is actually committed by Melissa, who botches her bid in a catastrophically stupid way. Bidding $499 immediately after someone bids $500 makes zero sense. Per Price Is Right rules, the only way you would be able to win with that is if you hit it exactly, anything above $499 and the person who bid $500 wins, and anything below $499 disqualifies you since you are not allowed to overbid.

Not to be outdone by Melissa’s stupidity, Adam somehow managed to forget what he bid. Swept up in the excitement of winning $500, he made a fool of himself on national TV by trying to claim a prize that wasn’t his, then getting sonned by both Drew Carey and the lady who actually won.

The icing on the cake is this image, showing a disconsolate, sheepish Adam being mocked by a fellow contestant:

1.

The price is wrong, indeed.
