Rush Limbaugh Doesn't Want Idris Elba (Or Any Black Man) to Play James Bond

How out of character.

When leaked Sony emails revealed Amy Pascal is considering Idris Elba to play James Bond we were intrigued. The potential casting makes perfect sense unless you're fixated on race. One such person is Rush Limbaugh, who took to his show today to rant about James Bond staying white.

"James Bond is a total concept put together by Ian Fleming. He was white and Scottish. Period. That is who James Bond is, was. But now Sony is suggesting that the next James Bond should be Idris Elba, a black Briton, rather than a white from Scotland. But that's not who James Bond is and I know it's racist to probably even point this out."

Limbaugh didn't whine about James Bond being played by Roger Moore, George Lazenby, David Niven, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, or Daniel Craig—none of whom are Scottish. So bringing Scotland into his critique is a (poor) attempt to hide that race is what he's really concerned about.

At least he knows he's a racist, though.
