A cybersecurity firm investigating the Sony hack has identified six main suspects, and as you might expect it’s looking like it was an inside job.

One former staffer has been identified as someone with “extensive knowledge of the company’s network and operations” by the investigating company, Norse Corp Vice President Kurt Stammberger says that along with her five co-conspirators, this person (known as “Lena”) had “direct involvement in the hack” and has been linked to the Guardians of Peace organization, which has taken responsibility for the data breach.

With all the “will they or won’t they” kerfuffle over The Interview’s release, it’s easy to forget that there’s also a criminal investigation that needs to take place about how this happened in the first place. Stammberger told CBS News that Lena “was in precisely the right position and had the deep technical background she would need to locate the specific servers that were compromised,” and that while no motive has been established it’s clear “that the attack would have been best executed from the inside.”
