A man was arrested in Staten Island last week for pretending to be a police officer to pick up a woman.

According to the Staten Island Advance, 35-year-old Dennis Scamardella of New Dorp stopped the 18-year-old while driving a black Cadillac with a blinking light conveniently mounted on its dashboard on Nov. 24. Believing him to be a cop, she pulled over.

The police shield hanging from his neck and the handcuffs hanging from his waist strengthened the guise, until he hit on her:

Hi, I'm Dennis. Do you know how beautiful you are?" Scamardella said, according to the criminal complaint against him.

When the woman asked if he was actually a real cop, he responded, "Yeah, don't you see my badge, cuffs and gun? Do you have a boyfriend? Give me your phone number," the complaint alleges.

Authentic NYPD officers arrested him on Friday, and he was charged with criminal impersonation. What shouldn't get lost in the mix is that this guy went through all of this trouble to hit on a barely legal woman half his age.
