At a press conference yesterday, a reporter seemingly randomly asked New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio whether he or his wife had ever smoked weed in the Gracie Mansion. It was weird, he said no, and life went on.
Now, though, it turns out that the question likely stemmed from rumors being spread by the NYPD. According to Gawker, the rumors began with police assigned to protect de Blasio and his wife and have swept across the entire department, and are now finally making their way into the public domain.
It’s yet another ugly chapter in the ongoing feud between the Mayor and the NYPD, with many officer lately turning their backs to the Mayor when he speaks at police officers’ funerals.
