While every NYPD officer doesn't hate New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, he's still managed to spark the ire of some who aren't afraid to share their feelings about him—and more—when in the company of friends.

Michael Greenberg penned an in-depth exploration of the tension for the New York Book Review that was published over the weekend. It was so in-depth, in fact, that it included Greenberg recalling being in a Queens bar following Officer Rafael Ramos' funeral last month. It's there that he reportedly heard one cop, described as a "diminutive, white-haired sergeant," call the mayor "nothing but a whore’s court jester, sucking the cock of every protester" during a toast. Greenberg said this was met with "roars" of support.

This, of course, is a reference to de Blasio expressing empathy for supporters of Eric Garner, who died after being choked by NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo last summer.

Greenberg added that a retired detective was also overheard bragging about some of the darker aspects of his time on the police force:

A retired detective from Yonkers reminisced in great detail about the various suspects—or mutts—he’d clobbered and left for dead. When he saw me listening and obviously suspected I wasn’t one of us, he said, with an unconvincing smile, None of those stories are true, understand?

Worse has likely been said. At least the NYPD is back to doing police work
