In Greek mythology Talos was a giant bronze guardian who circled the island of Crete three times a day protecting the island from pirates and invaders.

It should come as no surprise that the US Military is naming their next-gen super-soldiers exo-suits after the bronze proto-super hero. For what is mythology but the earliest forms of our contemporary obsession with superheroes? TALOS is the DARPA funded program that seeks to work with military contractors, research labs, and universities to create a perfect man/machine hybrid that looks more at home on a load-out screen in Halo than anything we've seen on a battlefield. While this may get the Tony Stark stans heated, the bigger question remains: How long before this tech finds its way into the hands of domestic and local law enforcement? It certainly wouldn't be the first time police in states were gifted military grade equipment for civil pacification...or maybe I'm just being paranoid. Your call.
