New Girl one of the funniest shows on TV right now showed it could do no wrong once season four started a few months ago, but that changed once the show decided to scrap the original adorable opening credits (You know you started singing it on cue) for a simpler version that included pictures of the now expanded regular cast. If you’re anything like me and hate change then these new credits were a slap in the face. At least you’re not alone, Zooey Deschanel hates the new credits just as much as you do.

In an interview with HitFix she was asked about the change in the iconic opening sequence:

1.

Finally talk a bit about the new credits. What are your thoughts on seeing them? "I had no choice. Yeah, it wasn’t my choice and I had no real influence in the matter."

The interviewer then went on to echo every New Girl fan’s feelings:

2.

I just feel like a lot of people miss the original ones. "Yeah. I like them too. I mean that’s my personal opinion and a lot of people have kind of complained to me on Twitter and stuff. But it was mandated by not me."

Imagine if The Fresh Prince of Bel Air or Friends, shows known for their opening credits and respective theme songs, switching it up in the middle of its run. Sure, Friends changed its credits up but the song stayed, dammit!

Whoever is responsible, find a way to incorporate the old song for season five!
