Colin Farrell Is All Mustache in New Pics from "True Detective" Season Two

Here's your first glimpse of the second season of "True Detective." Soak in the sweat, look for clues.

Here's your first glimpse of True Detective's second season. Soak in the sweat. Marvel at Colin Farrell's mustache—and beaten-by-the-world expression—as he teaches Taylor Kitsch a thing or to about manhood and/or the repetitive cycle of the universe.

The second season is said to air this summer. It's currently filming in Los Angeles—where it's sun's out, guns out all the freakin' time—and the new season will focus on entirely new characters. Nic Pizzolatto's new thread will follow three detectives (played by Farrell, Kitsch, and Rachel McAdams), and one criminal mastermind (played by Vince Vaughn), who are all connected by a larger conspiracy surrounding a murder. It's said to involve the corruption of the interstate system that connects northern and southern California. The common story thread between each season: the victim is involved in rough sex, and his body will show the markings of satanic ritual.

Justin Lin, of the Fast and the Furious series, will direct the first two episodes. Unlike the first season of True Detective—which was entirely directed by one director, Cary Joji Fukunaga—there will be four directors of the second season. Four main characters, four directors, four bushy slopes on Colin Farrell's face: we're searching for second season symmetry already.
