The comic book universe is continuing its takeover of the small screen with yet another TV series. Deadline reports that Fox has ordered a pilot for Luciferbased on the Sandman spin-off created by Neil Gaiman for DC Comics' Vertigo imprint.

The comic book series is about the king of hell quitting his job and coming to Earth to hang out, but apparently the production is going with a police procedural feel that will have Lucifer helping a police department solve crimes (cue fanboy outrage).

Among the people involved in this one: Californication creator Tom Kapinos as co-producer with Sleepy Hollow creator Len Wiseman, who will also direct the pilot.

No word on when this thing might make it to TV if the pilot goes well.
