Shooting at Free Speech Gathering in Denmark Leaves One Dead

Three police officers were injured as well.

UPDATE: According to the Associated Press, Denmark's security service believes the shooting was a terror attack. 

One person was killed after a gunman opened fire at a free speech even at a cafe in Denmark today, authorities say. 

According to the Associated Press,  shots rang out around 4 p.m., riddling the windows of Copenhagen's Krudttoenden cafe with roughly 30 bullet holes. The Associated Press adds that Swedish artist Lars Vilks, who's received threats for depictions of the Prophet Muhammad, organized the event. Vilks was in attendance, but unharmed.

Authorities revealed in a statement that the victim is an unidentified 40-year-old man. Three police officers were injured, as well.

The suspects are said to have escaped in a vehicle shortly after the shooting. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
