Amy Pascal, Sony's long-sitting co-chair, has officially resigned from her position in the aftermath of the cyber war between the studio and The Guardians of Peace, the nefarious hackers responsible for launching the offensive in response to the Seth Rogen-James Franco North Korea satire The Interview. Damning e-mails and threats of militarized violence  became weekly theater for the viewing public, and Mrs. Pascal, the executive directly responsible for green-lighting the comedy, was forced to fall on every grenade and take every L for the Sony team.

While her successor has yet to be named, Pascal released a statement this morning that claims she has a "new venture" with the studio, which will see her shifting focus towards a producing capacity. Even though the damage is done, Amy Pascal can come out looking like a hero if she can somehow fix the Spiderman franchise.
