Last night, I wasted at least 15 minutes pondering if the trip from my desk to the cabinet was worth the trouble for a perfectly bland but refreshingly no-assembly-required rice cake. On the other end of the effort spectrum, a precocious 4-year-old girl in Philadelphia awoke at 3 AM desperately craving a slushie. Without any debate whatsoever, the girl then proceeded to board a bus - at 3 AM, no less - in search of the perfect fourth meal slushie that Taco Bell hasn't invented yet.

Identified as Annabelle, the young hero was questioned by passengers about her evening plans, likely in an effort to compare them to their own so they could later cry themselves to sleep. Therein lies the beauty of this story — Annabelle's stop-at-nothing pursuit of a 3 AM slushie fix speaks to our collective desire as humans to not only chase a greater meaning at any cost, but to also be fearless in this endless 3 AM bus ride called life.

As you might expect, Annabelle's parents were quickly reunited with their tiny genius after the bus driver pulled over and notified the appropriate authorities. Though her parents reportedly bought her an actual slushie following the incident, the aforementioned metaphorical slushie that rests at the end of our collective search as humans will likely drive Annabelle and the rest of humanity for centuries to come.

Should I have that rice cake now?
