PlayStation Now Has Scripted TV, Too: Watch the "Powers" Trailer

Sony is dropping three parts of a ten-episode TV series onto their gaming system tonight.

Everyone is getting in on this TV game. When FX turned down Sony's pilot episode of Powers, Sony decided to recast and upload the resulting ten-episode scripted series onto PlayStation. There are 150 million accounts on Sony's Playstation Network, but will gamers put down their controllers, sit back and watch?

The series drops three episodes tonight, and then will upload one episode each following Tuesday. Powers is based on the graphic novel created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming. It stars Sharlto Copley, who you didn't see in Chappie last week even if you saw it (which you probably didn't; Copley voiced the titular robot), Eddie Izzard, Michelle Forbes, and Noah Taylor. It's about a guy (Copley) who used to have superhero powers, lost them, and now is investigating who is stealing the powers from superheroes.

As far as platform series go, Netflix started with the hugely anticipated House of Cards, Amazon experimented with a number of short series before airing the fantastic Transparent, but it seems like Sony is just dumping this on PlayStation in the middle of the night. Are they taking their huge user numbers for granted and assuming that they'll watch whatever is dropped into the system?
