It's Friday, so we know this news will hit you pretty hard.  According to the meticulous folks over at Quartz, you're very likely going into temporary debt for pizza, wine, and parties. That last one is admittedly a bit of a surprise, as I now tend to avoid parties like a millennial Larry David. The Cut broke down the methodology and results of the research, deeming pizza the most-used emoji within the Venmo app.

What the hell is Venmo, you ask?  It's an app designed for the simple transfer of funds between contacts, though the app's perplexing inclusion of a social component adds a compelling dimension absent from your increasingly boring PayPal transactions. When sending money, users add a note to the payment (generally an emoji). That note is public, by default, and has surely provided great fodder for behavioral analysts.

The Quartz study shows pizza as the obvious champion of the weekend, though wine and beer (2nd and 3rd, respectively) peak gloriously on Friday and Saturday. So, what does this all mean in grander terms? Well, you're not only spending a great deal of money on pizza, wine, and something called "parties," but you might very well be spending all this money on other people.

I'll drink to that.
