If you've never watched Ben Sinclair and Katya Blichfield's hilarious web series High Maintenance, change that immediately. If you have, you'll be pleased to know that HBO is bringing the series to TV.
Sinclair and Blichfield, who are a couple, started the show in 2012, and it's developed a loyal, sort of underground following, ever since. The show follows a New York drug dealer only known as 'The Guy" (played by Sinclair) who delivers weed via messenger bike to a different neurotic New Yorker every episode. The episodes are bite-sized, but rich and expertly written — one of their newer episodes about a frustrated television writer was nominated for a 2015 Writer Guild of America award.
You can watch High Maintenance on Vimeo, though you have to pay a small fee for some of the episodes — but now HBO will fund and play six new episodes on TV. According to an announcement from HBO's president of programming, Michael Lombardo, they'll also put all the other episodes up to their apps like HBO Go and HBO Now.
"High Maintenance has proven to be one of today’s most highly-acclaimed online comedies," said Lombardo. "We are thrilled to bring this sophisticated and clever series to our HBO audience."
