Don't get too excited just yet, but it looks like the Super Troopers sequel is actually happening. Fox Searchlight agreed to make the movie if Broken Lizard could raise $2 million—the Indiegogo campaign hit that number in a mere 26 hours. After the 30-day campaign, which ended Friday night, the project had raised $4.4 million with over 50,000 contributors. Brozen Lizard has been fundraising since last year and previous raised $27 million from the movie studio.

""Now the guys who didn't grow mustaches for the first one want to have a mustache. We're making them earn it, not sure how we'll haze them, but they better be prepared," Broken Lizard member Steve Lemme said in October. "I think [the script is] one of the more unique and interesting stories I've seen in awhile. But the movie picks up pretty much where we left off in the first one. It's a few years later. The biggest difficulty was trying to top that opening scene, which so many people have complimented us on. I think we've done it."

Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske will all be back for the sequel to the 2001 comedy; it starts pre-preduction in May and filming this summer. The only movie to crowdfund more was Veronica Mars, which managed to raise $5.7 million in 2013.
