Gal Gadot has been sitting around lonely as the announced Wonder Woman for years. The director spot wasn't shored up until this year, and even then Michelle MacLaren had to be replaced by Patty Jenkins. No co-stars have joined Gadot, but that may change soon.
Variety reports Chris Pine is in negotiations to star across Gadot as Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman's love interest. Rumors previously had Scott Eastwood attached to the role, but he reportedly signed on for a supporting role in Suicide Squad instead.
In the comics Trevor is a U.S. soldier in WWII whose plane crashes on Paradise Island. Amazon princess Diana nurses him back to health, falls in love, and follows him when he returns to the outside world. It is then that she becomes Diana Prince and Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 23, 2017.
