Seven Maryland teenagers face charges for unleashing tens of thousands of ladybugs upon their school as a senior prank.

MyFoxDC reports that the group—six students and one graduate—allegedly released 72,000 ladybugs inside of Morganza, Md.'s Chopticon High School last Wednesday. As a result, these face of mixture of criminal charges:

Four minors were charged with fourth-degree burglary, property destruction and disruption of school activities. The other three will be charged as adults by criminal summons.

Sgt. Cara Grimbles, a spokesperson with the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, explained why.

They set the burglary alarm off and the police did respond and we arrived there, Grimbles said. Then it takes it to a different level and we certainly don't want to see anybody get hurt.

What's more, MyFoxDC adds that one of the six graduating seniors will be banned from walking at Chopticon's graduation, which is tomorrow. In a plea to school administrators, Brian Reminga called the stunt a "harmless prank," and friends and fellow students have rallied around him in an effort to convince school brass to let him walk.
