Unlike studios, actors know when it's time to say goodbye to a movie franchise. The cogs will continue without them (aren't you excited for the third Spiderman reboot?), but at least they'll avoid being played out. The key is timing, and Hugh Jackman has decided his time to leave is coming soon.

After cryptically announcing the end of his reign as Wolverine on Instagram, Jackman finally talked about his decision to leave the X-Men franchise after Wolverine 3 on Dr. Oz of all shows. "It just felt like it was the right time to do it," he said. "And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it."

Jackman continued, "I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out."

X-Men: Apocalypse comes out before Wolverine 3, so his inclusion in the former film isn't ruled out. No official announcement has been made, though.
