It was just too good to not have a sequel. John Wick, the movie about a badass ex-assassin (played by Keanu Reeves) who decides he's in for one more kill after some Russian gangsters senselessly murder his dog, is coming back to theaters. Laugh if all you want at the premise, but the original was awesome—and Lionsgate has confirmed that directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch and Reeves will start working on the second.
Here's what Lionsgate had to say, from their press release:
‘With such tremendous fan and critical support for ‘John Wick,’ we knew that there was still so much more of this story to tell,’ said Jason Constantine, President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions. ‘We are thrilled that Keanu, David and Chad have re-teamed with us and promise to bring audiences even more excitement the second time around.’
Rumors of a sequel has been floating around since the movie came out last October—for a while, Stahelski and Leitch didn't know if Reeves would be in the second movie. So we're glad it's finally confirmed. Now that that's out of the way, on to more important matters: what, pray tell, will send John Wick into a murderous frenzy this time? Does he have any more pets?
